The Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation lists three key signs of a stroke:
- Is the face drooping?
- Can both arms be raised?
- Is speech slurred or jumbled?
If the answer is yes to any of these symptoms call 9-1-1 right away. Time is of the essence to get to the closest hospital with specialized stroke care.
DO NOT drive yourself if you are experiencing these symptoms. DO NOT drive a person who is experiencing these symptoms to the hospital – the ambulance service will know which hospital is designated for specialized stroke care and can provide care on the way.
