GivingTuesday Funds Cancer Research

With all the sales and spending associated with Black Friday and Cyber Monday following the American Thanksgiving, The Canadian Cancer Society is encouraging Canadians to take a moment and consider making a donation of time or money this Tuesday December 1, 2015.

GivingTuesday is a campaign designed to support the high-risk/high-reward cancer project, The Great Canadian Innovation Grant, which is hoped to make significant advances in cancer research.

Last year, GivingTuesday was able to fund the Super Senior Research Project which is leading research to develop anti-cancer drugs that are hoped to “switch off” genetic factors of the disease.  The project is studying 500 seniors who have lived long, healthy and active lives well into their 80’s and beyond, free from cancer.  To learn more, to participate in the study or to make a donation visit the Canadian Cancer Society website at http://www.cancer.ca .
